We Are More Alike Than Different

Maya Angelou earlier emphasized our human connection by stating that ‘’We are more alike than unalike’’. Inspired by her statement, this new blog post desires connection. Connection for those who have been patiently waiting for a new blog post and connection for those who are new to the party. Human connection… because we are more alike than different.

Haven’t we all met another who serves as a mirror to ourselves? ‘’The other’’ could be a mirror to what we have or believe we lack. In this act, we unite through our imperfections and desire for acceptance. Yet, we disconnect through our false narratives of where we believe that we lack.

The feeling we project outwards reflects the feeling we experience within. Projection towards another only reflects the extent to which we are capable of tuning in. We ultimately disconnect when we forget that there is similarity in our different paths.

A collective quest for human connection is your present through this new blog post from me. May we find continuity in diminishing separation and emphasizing similarities. May we bear in mind that finger-pointing only disturbs our quest to connect. May we deep-dive into our internal worlds to free ourselves from the false narratives where we believe that we lack, causing us to project. ‘’The other’’ who serves as a mirror to ourselves reflects the extent to which we, ourselves, can accept. Whether our paths cross or divide in our deep-dive, in human connection, we can always unite.
